Raymond’s Brain: My Baachan #8, To Korea

A personal history by Raymond Nakamura

This might look like a demonstration sport in PyeongChang, but it is based on a photo of a rickshaw runner in Korea. As a teenager, my Baachan went to Korea to help her uncle run a taxi business using rickshaws. After winning the war against Russian in 1905, Japan had made Korea a reluctant protectorate. I guess my Baachan’s uncle was jumping on this bandwagon, or rickshaw.
